Silent Hill lives as downloadable content for Dead by Daylight

Silent Hill is alive. Developer Behavior Interactive has partnered with Konami to bring characters from the classic horror franchise into Dead by Daylight. By purchasing the downloadable Silent Hill content for Dead by Daylight, players can add the legendary Pyramid Head monster to the game. The DLC also features Silent Hill protagonist Cheryl Mason as a new survivor.

The Silent Hill Chapter kicks off this month for Dead by Daylight. In addition to the characters, the Midwich Elementary School will be introduced as a new card.

This is a big step for Silent Hill and Dead by Daylight. With this DLC, Konami can keep its old franchise in people's minds. Dead by Daylight is currently one of the most successful horror games in the world. And the games should have a lot of crossover appeal. For Behavior Interactive, this is another fandom that it can incorporate into its asymmetrical horror action. Dead by Daylight previously introduced DLC packs for Strange things, Scream, and Saw. By regularly adding new content, the game reaches new fans. Behavior can continue to generate revenue with its most dedicated and loyal players.

What this means for Silent Hill

The most interesting aspect of this step, however, is what he could say about the future of Silent Hill. Konami has put the series on hold since Silent Hills was canceled in 2015. The publisher originally planned for Hideo Kojima to work on this game with partners like Guillermo del Toro. But Kojima and Konami had an argument. Kojima left the company and the publisher gave up the project.

During this time, Konami sharply withdrew from major video game releases. Instead, it focused on mobile games and the popular Pro Evolution Soccer franchise.

But is the return of Silent Hill in Dead in daylight a sign that the company could bring the game back? It is possible. There are rumors that the series may return to PlayStation 5 as an early title.

In that case, it wouldn't hurt to rejuvenate the property with a Dead by Daylight partnership. But we have to wait and see if anything else happens to Silent Hill.
